How to catch more?

Posted by Sharon Kemlage on

Most of the time it is easy to get caught in configuring the GPS-fish finder that we forget the essential thing: Making the fish finder work for you and catching more fish. Some of the things to consider are the environment, location, and how fish behave in a school. You will need to use your GPS-chartplotters to find where fish live and movement during different conditions and more. Here are the tips to make fish finders work:

#1: Weather Conditions

Fishers always keep their eyes on weather condition and measure the water temperature before fishing. Everyone has a temperature they use before casting their lures, but cold days result to less fish. Most will dive into deep water searching for warmth and tolerable oxygen levels. Thus, head out when the weather is warm.

#2: Baits

Fish like it when the lures match the color of their food. For bass, use lures which resemble shads. You will find an extensive selection of bait out there, most fishers swear by vivid, attractive and live-looking lures. Once you spot some fish using the GPS- fish finders, drop the most appropriate bait. If you are finding it hard to choose; be simple, live bait with hook works.

#3: Sensitivity of the Fish Finder

The fish finder's sensitivity matters. Overly depending on the default setting may not land you any fish. Turn them off and engage the manual mode. With more sensitivity, the information and details increase on the screen.

#4: Nesting

On the surface, the sea looks like a formless stretch of expanse. However, under the water, there are numerous features, and the bottom varies vastly. For the bass, found in most recreation lakes in the US, they prefer a floor covered by soft materials like plant material and clay matter.  Additionally, identify logs, drop-offs, or ledges for more fish. Always pay close attention to the bottom’s structure using the GPS-fish finders.

#5: Do Not Complicate Things

You can get lost in tweaking the echo, frequencies, and hundreds of other features. Sometimes paying attention to the basic features is essential. Know how to vary the depth, determine the floor’s structure, differentiate fish, and to locate drop-offs. GPS-fish finders are extremely useful and powerful take things slow.

#6:  Schools

Discovering a school of fish is an ecstatic moment, for the fisher. What is more exciting is spotting a massive fish in the water. Know h0w to recognize schools, big fish, and predators.

#7: Use the GPS-Chartplotters Well

Always keep an eye at the GPS to find and save locations on the water. It enhances safety, by making it easy to determine the depth and structure of the sea.

Finally, it is essential to choose a sturdy GPS- fish finder that will pick up fish more rooted in the water. A device that combines chart plotting functions and navigation capabilities is the best. You can mark your favorite spots, where the floor structure favors more fish and keep coming back to it for a consistent catch. As you garner experience using the GPS-Chartplotters and finders, eventually you will become a master.
